Enviva
BACKGROUND: In June 2010, Intrinergy, a world-leading biomass energy company, renamed itself to Enviva, which was originally the name used for their product line. Their name did not translate well across all languages and caused confusion for their consumers and new business.
In order to accomplish a successful rebrand, Intrinergy requested PUNCH to assist in smoothly transitioning from Intrinergy’s seasoned corporate brand to Enviva’s product sub-brand. This meant clearly establishing that the name Enviva would represent the entire corporate brand, not just the product line.
CHALLENGE: PUNCH was asked to create an identity system for Enviva with a fresh and professional look that reflected the company’s modern innovation in the market of biomass resources.
PUNCH was first asked to establish a color palette for the existing Enviva logo. Upon selecting the color palette and font standards, PUNCH was also challenged with developing all supporting printed collateral to implemented the new look.
PUNCH’s final challenge, but most important, was to combine the Intrinergy Web site with the Enviva Web site—a significant amount of information to combine!
As an international company, all suggestions and opinions for the Enviva corporate brand had to be considered. But more importantly, these suggestions and opinions needed to be merged into one cohesive message. This would avoid the problem Enviva’s current materials had—an inconsistent look and feel.
EXECUTION: The new colors chosen for Enviva were a bright green and grey combination. The product type (wood pellets, wood chips, materials, etc.) would be represented below the logo in green.
Once a logo option was chosen, we created a tagline—Sustainable Biomass Resources—and set standards for how it would be featured under the logo.
PUNCH also carried the new logo and brand through all collateral pieces, which included business cards, letterhead, envelopes, brochures, and a PowerPoint template and full presentation.
For the Web site, PUNCH created a temporary site to hold basic content, leadership team information, and an active news page. This domain is currently www.envivabiomass.com. This site will serve as a placeholder until the final site is completed.
We established a paper standard that is 100% Post Consumer Fiber to ensure Enviva’s message of sustainability would be communicated at every level. Even the holiday card PUNCH designed for Enviva—one of the first introductions of the Enviva brand—was reusable as wrapping paper.
IMPACT: PUNCH has successfully transformed Enviva into a corporate brand that is recognizable within the industry. We established an internal brand standard for each component of the Enviva identity system (paper, fonts, colors, logo placement, etc.).
And according to Enviva, this new identity system has brought them to the same level visually as they are professionally.
