The American Graphic Design Awards have selected Richmond firm, PUNCH, as a 2006 winner.  The awards are sponsored by Graphic Design USA, a nationwide periodical devoted to all things graphic design.  The panel of judges was particularly prestigious and included:  Justin Ahrens of Rule29, James Alexander of Adobe Stock Photos, Frank Baseman of Baseman Design Associates, Dana Castle and Michele Emmons DeHaven of Function, Kelly Fredrickson of Modernista!, and Robert Nakata of 72andSunny.  PUNCH won for its own identity package, which included the logo, business cards, letterhead, and envelopes.  The award winning pieces will be featured in December’s 300-page annual.

Kelly Adams of PUNCH says, “It is always gratifying to be recognized nationally for our work.  We do creative, innovative work all the time for our clients and it was especially meaningful that this award was for our own ID package.  We gave our designers carte blanche and let them explore creatively what PUNCH meant. Obviously, their ideas have resonance.”

Charlie Connell, PUNCH’s other managing partner, beamed as he spoke of the creative team.  “As a creative firm, developing your own identity package can be one of the most challenging projects. For PUNCH it has been one of our most successful, truly capturing our personality and what we bring to our clients. Inclusion in the GD USA annual is a great honor and is proof of our team’s hard work.”

PUNCH specializes in print advertising and design, corporate identity and branding, multimedia design and illustration as well media planning.  The firm’s clients include Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Swedish Match, the Richmond Ballet, and TerraForge.  For more information, please visit http://www.theartofimpact.com.
