Dodging Victories

They say that with age, comes wisdom. We are not so sure. Saturday, October 27th saw Team PUNCH competing for the second year in a row in the Chick-fil-A Dodgeball Tournament. Monday, October 30th, saw team PUNCH downing Advil and marveling that muscles they didn’t know they had, were indeed quite sore. There were also too few victories to brag about.  It seems we forgot which strategies were winning ones. Nevertheless, we remain committed to the cause.

This year, the money raised in the tournament went to support Children’s Miracle Network and Schools for Niger, Africa. There were 200 teams of adults who competed for the ultimate prize of a year’s worth of free Chick-fil-A, $1,000 in cash, and bragging rights.  Although we will all have to buy our own nuggets, helping out in such worthy causes takes the sting out of losing.

“PUNCH as been working for Children’s Miracle Network for some time, so we are acutely aware of the amazing impact they have in our community. It felt especially rewarding to have our team participate, knowing that our good times would result in some dramatic happy endings for people right here in Richmond,” says Charlie Connell, managing partner at PUNCH.

Sarah Shannon, a graphic designer and team leader says, “The competition was tough—some teams even practiced before-hand, which some consider to be cheating. With a win-loss record of 1-15, I’d say we’re definitely ready for more and there is nowhere to go but up. Next year, we may even practice in the parking lot before the tournament.”
