“There’s an App for That!”

So, if there is an app for everything, does that mean your company needs to create an app, too?  Maybe…or maybe not. With 85,000+ applications in the Apple app store, it’s no wonder companies are asking if they should create an app to promote their business.  I’ve given you my thoughts below and I’d love to hear yours.

Reasons to create an app:

• Plain and simple, apps are cool
• Generate Buzz
• Generate Brand Awareness
• Generate Revenue
• Your community uses iPhones
• You have something of value to offer your community
• Make your brand accessible on-the-go for your community

+ Fast Fact: 30% of the smart-phone market is owned by iPhone.  However, only about 1% of the entire mobile device market is owned by iPhone.

If you’ve determined that creating an application is the right move for your business, take a look at the steps below to get started.

1. ASSESS: Review your big picture goals and determine if creating an app will help you achieve your goals.

2. RESEARCH: Find out what your competition will be. Who is making an app in your category? Can you make one better or cheaper?

3. DIFFERENTIATE: Make sure you take the time to set yourself apart from your competition either in price, quality, or features.

4. MARKET: Your app is another product for your company, so once you have your app created, do your marketing due diligence.

5. ANALYZE: Set up analytics to track the sales and use of your application.
