Kablamo!
After watching my husband’s dodgeball league games, I swore I’d never play dodgeball, but times they are a changin’.

That’s right, I finally took the plunge with Team PUNCH at the Chick fil-A Dodgeball Tournament this Saturday. It was to raise money for charity—how could I say no? I have to admit my husband’s River City team is scary and aggressive; pegs to the face are just a common occurrence and I wasn’t sure why anyone would want to make themselves a human target.
Well this week’s tournament at the Richmond Convention Center got me pumped for dodgeball. Watching, playing, cheering—I was all in. Maybe it had something to do with our amazing success in round one where we had a record of 13 wins/ 3 losses. We got into a little chest beating match with Moe’s Homewreckers, but it was all in good fun and they turned out to be great training for our second round of games.
Yes, we made it to THE PLAYOFFS, single elimination rounds where we first faced VCU Volleyball. The guys on their team were “The HULK” kind of huge, but graceful as they fell to our PUNCH team. We lost our next game when time expired. We fought till the end and were very pleased ending up in the top 16 teams.
We couldn’t have gone that far without the unwavering support of our coach, Stephanie Russell. Stephanie kept us hydrated, informed of rules and ensured everyone was caught on film at 8:45AM on a Saturday with no make-up—THANKS FOR THAT! And thanks to the entire PUNCH Team for teaching me the game and making sure I never got pegged in the face.
