Do
DRIVE THRU LEMONADE!

The first day it got hot this year, my five-year-old twins asked me, “Mom, are we gonna sell lemonlaid again at your wer’k?” Despite several reassurances, I have been asked to provide them with an updated timeline at least two times a week.
Nothing though could have prepared them for the GRAND SCENE awaiting us as we hit PUNCH on Cary Street last Friday. DRIVE THRU LEMONADE! Revolutionary! Once the twins got their eyes popped back into their heads and understood the ground rules that they weren’t actually going to play in traffic, they went to work!

No car or pedestrian was left unaccosted. For once, their loud octaval reaching abilities were put to the good. The words “suggested” or “donation” never crossed their lips. “It costs one dollar!” Who could resist their joy! Apparently, not many—five-dollar bills were handed over for one cup of ice-cold lemonade with no change required! Some folks even denied their taste buds the joy, but donated generously nonetheless!
Austin and Logan knew they were selling lemonade “for the children.” Every year, PUNCH sets up a lemonade stand on Cary Street for Anthem LemonAid benefiting the Children’s Miracle Network. And each year, we try to out-do the last. Lauren, one of PUNCH’s new project managers, came up with this year’s winning idea: DRIVE THRU LemonAid! And it was a major success!
At the end of the twins’ shift, they walked away proud, hot, and exhausted. They bragged about how much money they made, they discussed who their best customers were. They could not stop talking about their first real “drive thru” experience!
As a mom, I am so proud of PUNCH! So thrilled to be able to bring my kids to work (or wer’k!) for such a great cause! And FYI, to the lucky planner next year, Austin and Logan suggested roller skates to get to ALL the cars and ALL the people on the other side of the street!
