Discerning Taste

Here at PUNCH, we are constantly researching and sharing new techniques and trends in the design industry. It’s one of the methods we use to stay in-the-know and maintain our position as a high-end design firm. I often share a new filter or font with the team when I see something refreshing and we often engage in spirited discussions about a shocking logo change, or the latest and greatest energy drink packaging from 7Eleven. The design annuals are constantly left open and a whole wall is dedicated to any incredible finds. My in-box even has a folder designated to any and all design-related content. Simply put, we cannot get enough design.

At PUNCH, we also love a reason to celebrate. We proudly plan themed birthday parties for each and every employee and mark a team happy-hour on the calendar at least once a month. So how could we incorporate our discerning taste for design into a morale-boosting, team-building party? That’s easy.

Introducing: Six-Pack Friday.

The rules were simple. Everyone brings in a six-pack and the team will critique the brew’s merits and flaws like a work of fine art.

We discussed everything from color and clarity to finish and region. Label design was also a heated subject. So we sat focused, sipped, discussed, and rated every single beer.

A few of the highest rated brews from our session included The Duck-Rabbit Craft Brewery Brown Ale, Victory Brewing Company Storm King Stout, and my personal favorite, Bell’s Brewery Third Coast Ale, which is a rich barley wine perfect for these February temperatures.

Drink the best, and be merry!
